[A long, loud, exhausted sigh. And the sound of someone flopping onto a mattress.]

Some customers should really learn how to make up their minds. I've got better things to do than run to the kitchen and back again just because people can't decide what to eat or drink!

Ugh. [Muffled. Someone just face-pillowed.]

[There is no need for secrecy when it's impossible that anyone would eavesdrop on or otherwise overhear this conversation.]

Bad day at work?

Horrible. [At least Kay remembers to peel that pillow off her face before replying.] At least they paid for their food.

Hmm, we knew this when deciding on a place of employment for you. Many of those unsavory customers are just waiting to be outed for who they really are and thrown behind bars.

That's right!

But...I couldn't find a single shred of evidence on those guys. Maybe their only crime is not making up their minds.

Such a crime is not exactly punishable by law...

Guess they're innocent. [Sigh.] It would've been great if I found something to incriminate them...

In spite of their behavior, is a lack of criminal activity not a good thing?

Yeah, actually, it is. It does get pretty boring sometimes, though.

Maybe that is why those customers are so indecisive... to add a splash of excitement to your day.

[Besides, it's gotta be infinitely more exciting than working at an automobile assembly line.]

[identity profile] dedikayted.livejournal.com 2011-05-05 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
But there are loads of other ways to make it more exciting!

[...yup, Kay would take this job over THAT any day.]

They could also have left a mess at the table for you to clean.

[AU or not, Edgeworth can still still kind of be a jerk.]

[identity profile] dedikayted.livejournal.com 2011-05-06 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not exciting at all! It's so hard looking for evidence under all the mess people leave on their tables!
prosecutes: (I'm cutting your pay.)

Then what would you suggest?

[identity profile] dedikayted.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
...

A more generous tip would be nice.

A few extra pennies would make your job that much more exciting?

If I'm lucky, it won't be just a few!

Quality of service plays a greater role than luck.

[Wait, people are usually dishonest and cheap.]

...It should, at least.

I know you do. But you are right. Luck is just as important when it comes to stingy customers.

Is it the same where you work? I mean, where you pretend to not be the head of the FBI?

I tried it once, but with all the work I must do for the FBI, it was simply too draining and time-consuming.

[Which is why he often has security follow him around, especially since his billfold was stolen earlier this week.]

[identity profile] dedikayted.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, so you're not pretending anymore? At all?

[Kay only wishes she had security, but having no security was probably more secure in her case.]

It would be an unaffordable waste of time and effort. Even if my time as director of the bureau is to be short, I intend to accomplish as much as possible while I can.

I guess that makes sense, since you're the big boss, which automatically makes you famous.

But I'll do my best too!

You always do, just as your father had.

[Many initially questioned Edgeworth's choice to hire Kay, but she has been a great asset thus far, and the only complaints remaining are from those who don't want to see women working for the FBI at all.]
